Successful Monday

Hurrah - first day back at work and felt super motivated and ready to go, got loadsa work done. Then straight down the gym after for a full on session - warm up, free weights, resistance machines and then 10 mins on the cross trainer and 10 mins on the rower.

Was starving when I got back so munched a plate of chips as that's all I had to eat! So that's not great - but tomorrow I have a lovely salad prepared and then I've booked in to an aquafit class in the evening. Woop!

Wooooo

Wow I am tired...today was my friend's wedding. It was very beautful and all my friends looked lovely in their smart attire - not a sight you see very often! It has also given me a very positive outlook for the future - our group of mates are a great bunch, and we can still have a great day out when we want to.

Exercise wise I did not so good on Friday - it was my last day with Harry and I had incredibly bad lady pains - but I still walked a fair bit, but probably just under10,000 steps. Saturday I had a proper session in the gym - weights, cardio and swim and steam room, which was great. Today really I haven't done anything because of the wedding, but really I could have fit in a class or a run in the morning but I stayed up late and slept through this morning. But I'll be back on it tomorrow - I'm not faultering!

I also measured myself again and I've lost an inch on my waist, thighs and arms since the start of July, so that's wicked - my hips are staying the same though! So obviously got to work a lot harder to get anything to budge from there!

Quick update

Not much to report as I have been working and staying at my auntie's so still just walking and keeping to my 10,000 step target. Its great having the dog because there has definitely been one evening and a couple of mornings where if I didn't have the dog I wouldn't have bothered to get up and go out so its definitely helping!!

My step totals so far:

16,283 Sunday (and I forgot to put the pedometer on for our morning walk so it probably was 20,000)

17,827 Monday

12,650 Tuesday (this was the day when I was seriously tired and we didn't go out for our late night walk, much to Harry's disappointment)

25,335 Wednesday! We walked first thing in the morning and then for 3 hours in the evening. I mapped out the route on Google afterwards and it says that we walked 5.28 miles in the evening! Good stuff. And I'd never bother to walk that far without the company of a dog, it would be far too boring. I'm going to miss him when I have to give him back tomorrow. But I'm looking forward to carrying on being this active in the gym.

Phew!

Yesterday - day one of le challenge, went very well. Harry and I walked all over town for four hours, here, there and everywhere and also went down to see the day festival in the park which was great. Poor little thing was absolutely knackered when we got back and promptly fell asleep next to me on the sofa! We both had our dinner and then we were out again to go and meet bf from work. Unfortunately I forgot to put my pedometer back on when we went for the final walk but before we went it was at 15,493 - so way over my 10,000 target! And I also forgot to put it on before our morning walk today, but I'm confident we'll still do over 10,000 with our afternoon ramble to Grantchester Meadows!

Having a dog definitely gives you a reason to get up and go out more - I'm really going to miss this easy exercise after Friday when it will be back to slogging it out in the gym!

Challenge time!

Well well, here I am back to this blog after neglecting it for well over a year! Its weird but I kind of have an aversion to reading the past posts as they kind of depress me about the fact that I haven't really done a hell of a lot of momentus things since I was writing it all - but then again I guess I have, some. I've lost weight, and then re-gained it and more. I ran a half marathon in December 2010, and have since completely lost any enthusiasm for exercise. I got the dream job - funnily enough I have now been in Dream Job for 14 months and am still loving it. I can now honestly say that I am a Professinal Fundraiser. Not an administrator, not a secretary. :) and I work with lovely people, creative types, and of course am surrounded by gorgeous animals which is wonderful.

So I've deleted all the old posts because of new chapters and all that. The reason I wanted to start a blog again (quite honestly, I had forgotten this one had even existed)is because I have set myself a new challenge. A big, fat exercise challenge.

My relationship with exercise is a turbulent one. I'm either in the gym constantly, pounding the pavements or sitting on my arse all day long doing nothing. At the moment I am in a doing nothing phase, and I have been like this since December (when I managed to train and run a half marathon in the bitter cold of winter - where on earth did that motivation come from?!) I rejoined a swanky gym (Greens) a couple of months ago and on average I have been going about twice a week, but that is nowhere near enough to achieve the goals I want and also isn't really justifying the monthly membership fee!

I drive to my current job and spend most of the day glued to my desk (even though I am lucky enough to work on a 52acre farm, I still sometimes don't see daylight between 8am - 6pm, ridiculous non?) I get up early, usually around 6-7am, then drive to work, sit down all day, eat lunch at my desk, drive home and then barely move from the sofa. Not good for the mind, bum or thighs. I'm weighing in at a wobbly 10 stone 7 at the moment - a stone over the weight I feel best at.

Therefore I am setting myself a challenge. To go to the gym every day for the next three months. And if I absolutely can't get to the gym, I have to at least walk or run at least 10,000 steps. Every day I will blog about what I've done and what my totals are (miles or km travelled, calories burn or steps done). I would love to see what this will do for me weight loss wise in three months.

I'm also a firm believer in exercise being incredibly good for mind health and *cough* sexual energy. Both of these are things that I could have better of at the moment!

Funnily enough, the gym challenge can't start until next Saturday the 16th July - because from tomorrow morning I am looking after my uncle's dog, Harry, who will be left alone for most of the week days so I want to spend all my free time with him. However he is an active terrier who loves his walks so my minimum daily goal is 10,000 steps walked! Really looking forward to it :)

Here's to good health :) I'm quite excited!
